{"id":3519,"date":"2025-09-08T10:42:42","date_gmt":"2025-09-08T01:42:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/misterx95.myds.me\/wordpress\/?p=3519"},"modified":"2025-09-08T10:45:25","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T01:45:25","slug":"journal-club-2025-09-08","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/misterx95.myds.me\/wordpress\/?p=3519","title":{"rendered":"Journal Club 2025.09.08"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Estrogen alleviates acute and chronic itch in mice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DOI: 10.3892\/etm.2023.11954<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Abstract.\u00a0<\/strong>Itching is associated with various skin diseases,including atopic dermatitis and allergic dermatitis, and leadsto repeated scratching behavior and unpleasant sensation.Although clinical and laboratory research data have shown that estrogen is involved in regulating itch, the molecular and cellular basis of estrogen in itch sensation remains elusive.In the present study, it was found that estrogen\u2011treated mice exhibited reduced scratching bouts when challenged with histamine, chloroquine, the proteinase\u2011activated receptor\u20112 activating peptide SLIGRL\u2011NH2 (SLIGRL), compound48\/80, and 5\u2011hydroxytryptamine when compared with mice in the placebo group. Moreover, estrogen also suppressed scratching bouts in the mouse model of chronic itch induced by acetone\u2011ether\u2011water treatment. Notably, consistent with the behavioral tests, the present RNA\u2011seq analysis showed that estrogen treatment caused significantly reduced expression levels of itch\u2011related molecules such as Mas\u2011related G\u2011protein coupled receptor member A3, neuromedin B and natriuretic polypeptide b. In addition, estradiol attenuated histamine\u2011induced and chloroquine\u2011induced calcium influx in dorsal root ganglion neurons. Collectively, the data of the present study suggested that estrogen modulates the expression of itch\u2011related molecules and suppresses both acute and chronic itch in mice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Key
